Patacona beach is the natural extension of Malvarrosa: fine golden sand, the calm waters of the Mediterranean and a seafront promenade lined with beach bars and rice restaurants. It is just a few metres from the apartment, so you can head down for an early-morning swim or watch the sunset with your feet in the sand without ever taking the car.
Valencia is the birthplace of paella, born in the rice fields of the Albufera just minutes from the city. Right by the beach you'll find restaurants serving authentic Valencian paella and arroz del senyoret, while in the centre the Central Market — one of the largest in Europe — awaits with fresh produce from the huerta and the Mediterranean.
The City of Arts and Sciences, designed by Santiago Calatrava, is Valencia's modern icon: the Oceanogràfic, the Hemisfèric and the Science Museum can be explored on foot or by bike along the former Turia riverbed, now a vast park. From the apartment you can cycle to the historic old town, home to the Silk Exchange, the Cathedral and the Colón Market.
The Albufera Natural Park is the largest lake in Spain, just minutes from the apartment: a mosaic of rice paddies, dunes and pine groves where paella was born. Take a boat at sunset to watch the sun melt into the water among fishing boats, wander the paths between rice fields and discover one of the richest bird wetlands in the Mediterranean.
